Walter Palaschuk, WPLB Charolais, Raymore, SK passed away May 18th at the age of 83. Walter was a very successful Hereford breeder for many year before he and Lydia switched to breeding Charolais over 25 years ago. A good stockman, he was very competitive in the show and sale ring winning championships across Canada and at Denver including winning the Premier Exhibitor Award at Agribition in 1999. He sold in the Lloydminster and Regina Bull Sales for many years. A celebration of Walter’s life will be held at a later date.
Alain Bouffard passed away suddenly at his home at Ayer’s Cliff, Quebec on May 18, 2020 at the age of 69. A Charolais breeder for many years he was always cheerful and easy to visit with being interested in everyone he met. Raising a large family on the farm, many are still involved in agriculture.He is survived by his wife of 45 year, Pauline Carrier along with his 12 children and 46 grandchildren. Some of you outside of Quebec will remember his children Myriam and Jean-Sebatian who attended CCYA in the early 2000s and recently grandchildren Lilyanne, Damien & Tristan have attended CCYA along with their parents Jannick Bouffard & Sherry Paxton who own Open Gate Farm. The family will welcome those who wish to pay a final tribute to Alain on the family property at 9 chemin Corey, Barnston-Ouest, Friday, May 22nd from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 23rd from 12 to 2 p.m. The funeral ceremony will follow in family privacy.
Bruce Norsworthy, of the former Cannington Charolais herd at Manor, SK passed away on April 29th at the age of 72 after a battle with cancer. Bruce and Lynn took over the Cannington Charolais herd from his father in 1977 and were active through the ’80s. Bruce was a willing volunteer for the Charolais breed serving on the SCA board of directors. They were members of the S.E.Sask Charolais Breeders group. No service will be held at this time.
Ernie Bayduza, Breezy Dawn Farm, Dauphin, MB passed away April 21st at the age of 81 after a long battle with cancer and his wife Alvina (Al) isn’t well now battling brain cancer. Ernie and Al were in the Charolais business for about 20 years before they dispersed in 2014 due to health issues. He was very active in his community as Reeve, Conservation board, 4-H and the Dauphin Ag society where he was president for many years and helped spear head the Manitoba Heart of Canada shows and CCYA Conference when it was held there in 2002. Ernie also sat on the Manitoba Charolais Association board of directors for six years until 2015 including a couple years as 1st Vice-President. A private burial will take palce and a Celebration of life will be announced and set for a later date due to the Coronavirus protocols..
