Former Charolais Breeder Passes

Leonard Nykoliation, beloved husband of Marilyn and father of Greg, Michael and Gordon, passed away at his home in Virden, MB on Tuesday, October 15th, 2019 in his 80th year. Len and Marilyn started in the purebred Charolais business in the 1970s and were active for over 30 years. Funeral services will be at St. Paul’s United Church, Virden at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22nd. A time of viewing and visitation will be held at Carscadden Funeral Chapel, Virden on Monday, October 21st from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

McLeod Sweeps Olds Show

The Reserve Grand Champion Female of this 34 entry show judged by Cheramie Viator, Turnbull, TX was RRMM Ms Miles Baby 18E, sired by PCC Balistik 441P and her CML Copyright 714E heifer calf at side, exhibited by Nelson Hirsche Purebreds, Del Bonita. The Grand Champion Bull was CML Copyright 714E, sired by CJC Trademark H45, owned by McLeod Livestock & Nelson Hirsche Purebreds. Kingsmeadow Land & Cattle & Hunter Acres Charolais Win Classic Heritage Charolais Show

Hunter Acres Florence 2F, sired by Merit Roundup 9508W, exhibited by Hunter Acres Charolais of Hunter River, was slapped Grand Champion Female at the Classic Heritage Beef Show, a BOSS show, in Windsor, Nova Scotia on September 20th. Reserve Grand Champion Female of this 28 entry show, judged by Tyson Hertz, Fir Mountain, SK was Hunter Acres Geraldine 2G, sired by WR Wrangler W601. Grand Champion Bull was PCHF Bigg Yipper 4F, sired by Winn Mans Big Rig 639Y, owned by Kingsmeadow Land & Cattle, Windsor. Former Charolais Breeder Passes

Gene Foat of Foat Charolais, Carstairs, AB passed away Sept. 25th due to complications from a farming accident at the age of 74. Gene and his son Mike dispersed their Charolais herd in 2016. A celebration of Gene’s Life will be held on Monday, October 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Cremona Congregational Church.

Charolais Bull Wins Supreme

OBR Outback Dakota 2D, sired by TR PZC Mr Turton 0794 ET, exhibited by Outback Ranch Land & Cattle, Simonds, NB was selected Grand Champion Charolais and Supreme Champion Bull of all breeds at New Brunswick Beef Expo, September 20th in Sussex.  The Grand Champion Charolais Female, of this 15 entry show, selected by judge Andre Steppler, Miami, MB, was OBR Outback Princess 4B, sired by WR Wrangler W601 with her twin OBR Outback Dakota 2D heifer calves at side, exhibited by Outback Ranch Land & Cattle.

Former Charolais Breeder passes

Irvin (I.J.) Jacobson of Manning, Alberta passed away September, 4th at the age of 66 after a nearly two year battle with cancer. Irvin started raising Charolais in 1973 under the name of Triangle J Charolais. He farmed until 2017.
