Highest Bull Sale Averages

In the May issue of the Charolais Banner magazine a recap of the Spring Bull sales shows the highest averages in the 30 years we have been tracking them. There were 68 bull sales reporting in 2011 with the overall average up $542 from last year, with nearly 150 more bulls selling, and over 2,300 bulls averaging $3,672. This is $400 higher than the second highest average posted in 2001 and $1,471 higher than the lowest average in 1985.

Manitoba Flooding

Here is a story on former Charolais Breeders having to move their cows because of the flooding in Manitoba. If you go to CTV Winnipeg news website http://winnipeg.ctv.ca there is a report by Jon Hendricks on Doug and Lynne Love of Portage La Prairie moving their cattle.  The cows and calves look really good considering the mud that they have probably been in.

Blizzard Aid

The Saskatchwan & Manitoba governments may be offering aid to producers who lost livestock in the severe snow storm that hit eastern Saskatchewan and western Manitoba April 29th and 30th. Many producers have reported high calf death loss. Pictures and documentation will be necessary so before it is to late be sure to get the camera out.
