Reserve Grand Champion Female of this 72 entry show, judged by Jill Harvie, Olds, AB was MVY Stella 20E, sired by MCF Bohannon 305A from BZBT Cattle Co., Melanathon & Rollin’ Acres Charolais, Shelburne. Grand Champion Bull was MVY Caous 64D, sired by TR PZC Mr Turton 0794 ET, owned by Rollin’ Acres Charolais, Dudgeon-Snobelen Farms, Ripley & McAvoy Charolais, Arelee, SK. Reserve Grand Champion Bull was Moyer’s Ferdinand 2F, sired by MCF Bohannon 305A and exhibited by Moyer Cattle Co., Arthur.

Charolais Female Supreme at Renfrew

CRG Princess Valentine 42D, sired by TR PZC Mr Turton 0794 ET and her bull calf sired by M & M Outsider 4003 PLD won Supreme Champion Female of the Renfrew, ON Fair on September 9th. Exhbited by Oattes Cattle Co, Cobden this pair was Grand Champion of the Charolais BOSS show earlier in the day.

The rest of the Champions from the Charolais show as judged by John Vancise of Stayner were Grand Champion Bull Cornerview Express 2E, sired by SVY Monument Pld 159Y and exhibited by Cornerview Charolais, Cobden. Reserve Grand Champion Bull was Whitewater Franchise 1F, sired by S0S Chuck Wagon 54C and shown by Whitewater Livestock, Haley Station and Reserve Grand Champion Female was BF Cinderella Z 14C, sired by D R Revelation 467 and her twin heifer calves by SOS Chuck Wagon 54C and exhibited by Baker Farms, Madoc.

Charcross Steers Sweep Dauphin 4-H

Porter Fox of Eddystone Combined Club won Grand Champion steer at the Dauphin (MB) 4-H show and sale June 28th. The steer weighed 1,487 lb and sold for $2.40/lb to Dauphin & Ste Rose Vet Clinic.  Reserve Grand Champion steer as judged by Michael Hunter was exhibited by Nia Devonald of the Rorketon Variety 4-H Club. This steer weighed 1,369 lb and sold for $1.90/lb to Ste Rose Concrete. The average price of the 22 steers was $2.20/lb.

Charcross Steer Wins Byemoor 4-H

A 1,402 lb Charcross steer of Addison Chardoneau won the Byemoor 4-H Beef Club Grand Champion honours at the Stettler (AB) District Show, June 5th. Judged by Dan Skeels the steer sold for $3.50/lb to Rushton Agencies, Stettler.

Former Charolais Breeder Passes Away

Sandra Carles wife of Emile Carles formerly of E-CEE Stock Farm and Merit Cattle Co. of Radville, SK. passed away Monday, September 10th. Prayers are Thursday evening 7:00 p.m at the Holy Family Parish in Radville and the funeral is Friday, 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Parish.

Influencial Pioneer Breeder Passes Away

Don Pochylko, Red Deer, AB passed away Sunday, Sept. 2nd of a heart attack. Starting in Charolais in 1961 he founded SanDan Charolais and was a leader in the Charolais industry for many years. A celebration of Don’s life will be Friday, September 7 at 2:00 p.m., at the Stettler Funeral Home.
