Long time breeder passes away

Norman Dewald of Altario, Alberta passed on September 16, 2013 at the age of 75 years at the U of A Hospital, Edmonton, Alberta.  A funeral service in honor of Norman’s life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Altario School Gym, Altario, Alberta with Pastor Darrel Durksen officiating.  Interment will follow at Altario Cemetery, Altario, Alberta.Gregory’s Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.

Charolais Top Rivers 4-H Show

Brayden Heapy won Champion Continuation Heifer at the Rivers 4-H Show July 3rd with HTA Glitter 197Y by KBK Rally 24T and her LAE Youngstown 134Y heifer calf at side. Judge Andrea Bertholet made Kate-Leigh Heapy’s charcross steer sired by SVS Nobleman 25N the Res. Champion Steer. He weighed 1,439 lbs. and so for $2.50/lb. to Landmark Feeds.

Charolais Top Thorhild 4-H Regional

Kord Phillips, Waskatenau won Grand Champion Female at the Thorhild (AB) 4-H Regional Show with KAYR 26Y,  a Rolling D Classic daughter and her KCM Prowler heifer calf at side. Kord also had the Grand Champion steer with a Smilin Bob steer bull sired animal out of a purebred Charolais female. Judged by a panel of three Brittany Papenhuyzen, Valentina Gabert and Kelsey Knotts. Peri Phillips had Champion Bred Heifer with a KCM Prowler daughter.

Baker Farms Sweep Renfrew Show

Baker Farms Zagucci 8Z, sired by Gerard Montezuma 6T and shown by Baker Farms, Madoc was selected Grand Champion Female at the Renfrew (ON) BOSS Show September 8th. Judge Brian Bruton made Wood River Princess 13Y by Wood River Country Boy 54W and her calf sired by CSS Sir Gridmaker 2W from Oattes Charolais, Cobden Reserve Grand Champion Female.
Baker Farms Zuma 4Z sired by Gerard Montezuma 6T from Baker Farms was slapped Grand Champion Bull in this 27 entry show while Cornerview Gibbs 25Z sired by STA Gibson’s Finest 3X from Cornerview Charolais, Cobden was declared Reserve Grand Champion Bull.

Charolais Steer Wins Virden 4-H Regional Show

Jaylin Hill of Lenore, MB won Grand Champion Steer at the Virden & District 4-H Interclub Show and Sale on July 2, 2013.  Judge Andrew Kopeechuk chose this steer over 40 others, weighing 1,270 lbs, which sold to T.L. Penner Construction Ltd. from Kola for $3.00/lb.
