Very influential Pioneer Breeder passes

John Rudiger of Rudiger Ranches, Calgary, AB passed away May 18th at the age of 84. John was a director of the Canadian Charolais Association from 1960 to 1969 and from 1993 to 1999. He was the 1st president of the Saskatchewan Charolais Association in 1964, among the first group included in the SCA Honour Scroll in 1991 and was in the first group put on the CCA Honor Roll in 1999. A Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Eden Brook Funeral Home (17 Ave SW and Lower Springbank Rd) at 1:00pm. Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting

HIghest Grossing Bull Sales Ever

In the 37 years the Charolais Banner has been compiling bull sale results, this spring was the best ever. From the fall of 2017 to the spring of 2018 there were 96 sales reporting, 6 more than in 2017 and the largest number of animals and sales ever. The gross was up nearly 1.35 million dollars, the highest ever. The sale average was also up from 2017 with the over 3,400 bulls sold averaging $6,160. .
