Roy and Joan Biensch formally of Rainbow Charolais, Marsden, SK both passed this year. Joan passed on Aug 11th, one day shy of their 70th wedding anniversary. Roy passed away November 21st at the age of 93. Roy was a founding member of the Canadian Charolais Association in 1959. He was president of the Saskatchewan Charolais Association from 1966 to 1969 and a director of the Canadian Charolais Association for 14 years from 1962 to 1976. Their dispersal sale was in 1985 in Lloydminster. There will be a celebration of life gathering next spring or summer back in Marsden.

Hunter Acres Ethel 6E, sired by Charhaven X-Pelled 105X and her bull calf sired by Mr Louber Erickson 456E and exhibited by Campbell Charolais, West Mabou was Grand Champion Female of the Heritage Classic Show, September 21st in Windsor, NS. Judge Toby Noble, Lloydminster, AB then selected Balamore Cowgirl 301L, sired by Balamore Justice 126J and exhibited by Starr View Farm, Scotsburn as the Reserve Grand Champion Female of this 26 entry (BOSS) Show.
Grand Champion Bull was Balamore Mackinnon 416M, sired by Keys Powermax 57G from Balamore Farms, Great Village. Reserve Grand Champion Bull was JJ Memphis 3M, sired by JJ Kobe 1K and exhibited by Lutz Farm Charolais, Steeves Mountain, NB.

Judge Eric Boon, Lucky Lake, SK then chose EVF Lily 338L, sired by SVY Trust 6H from Harvie Ranching, Olds as the Reserve Grand Champion Female of this 113 entry BOSS show. Grand champion Bull was PCC Husk 218K ET, sired by CCC WC Redemption 7143 Pld ET exhibited by Prairie Cove Charolais, Bashaw, Jon-Ern Farms, Blenheim, ON and Southland Angus & Charolais, Shaunavon, SK. Reserve Grand Champion Bull was SVY Verified 202K, sired by SVY Trust 6H, from Blanchette Ranch Ltd., Edam, SK.

Harvie Ranching, Olds Won the Divine Divas Champion Pair of Heifers at the start of the Charolais Show November 8th in Edmonton at Farmfair International. Judge Eric Boon, Lucky Lake, (SK), selected Harvie Ms Molson 19M, sired by SOS Jackpot Pld 158J and Harvie Brenda 35M, sired by HVA Three Thieves 66F. Reserve Champion Pair of Heifers was CML Desirae 405M and CML Desirae 407M, sired by CML Raindance 996G, from McLeod Livestock, Cochrane.

The Alberta Charolais Association Player’s Club show was held at the 50th Anniversary of Farmfair International in Edmonton (AB), Thursday November 7. Winning the $50,000 over 20 bulls as judged by over 60 additional members was Elder’s Mc Gregor 4140M, sired by LT Justified 1528 PLD, from Elder Charolais, Coronach, SK.

CRG Miss Shelby 94L, sired by M&M Outsider 4003 Pld from Oattes Cattle, Cobden was Grand Champion Female at the Toronto (ON) Royal, November 1st. Judges Nat Grylls & Mark Piller, Neudorf, SK then chose DF Sauternes 044L, sired by DF MR Outrageous 64G from Derrer Farms, Milan, IL as their Reserve Grand Champion Female of this 63 entry BOSS Show. Grand Champion Bull was WJS Ring Master 34L, sired by Legacys Grandmaster 63G from Rollin Acres Charolais, Mulmur. Reserve Grand Bull was DF Significant 904L, sired by CCC WC Resource 417 P from Derrer Farms.
