The first annual Princess of the Marsh Jackpot Heifer Calf Show was held September 29th on the N7 Cattle Ranch, Douglas, MB. A three panel judging team selected Tri-N Montana 156Z, in this multi-breed futurity show, over 47 entries as Princess of the Marsh. The Curtis Wallace sired Charolais heifer is owned by Tri-N Charolais of Lenore. A portion of the jackpot proceeds will go to the Manitoba Roundup Show held annually in Neepawa in support of Manitoba youth involved in beef production.

Grand Champion Bull was Echosprings Yagerbomb 11Y, sired by Jezabel from Echo Springs Charolais & Kerr Charolais, Virden, MB. Cedardale Zerxes 116Z by Cedardale Winchester 70W from Cedardale Farms, Nestleton was Reserve Grand Champion Bull.

Emily Potter of Potter Charolais, Earlton, ON captured Grand Champion Beef animal with BPL YOOHOOICANMAKEUFAMOUS 22Y (Havana X Bluegrass) at the northeastern Ontario regional beef 4-H achievement day at the New Liskeard Fall Fair, September 15th. Emily will be showing her heifer at the 2012 Toronto Royal Winter Fair Junior Beef Heifer Show, along with nine other Temiskaming District Beef 4-H club members. This will be the largest contingent from northern Ontario ever.
Baker Farms Sweep Renfrew Fair
Baker Farms of Madoc, ON won both the Grand Champion Female and Grand Champion Bull at the Renfrew Fair Charolais BOSS Show, September 9th judged by Luc Noiseux. Champion Female Baker Farms Xceptional 3X, sired by Cedardale Trademark 33T and her Gerrard Montezuma 6T heifer calf at side. Reserve Champion Female, in this 32 entry show, was Sharodon 2B Talula 4T, sired by EC No Doubt 2022P and her SVY Pilgrim Pld 655S heifer calf at side, exhibited by Sharodon Farms, Peterborough. Champion Bull was Baker Farms Zuma 4Z, sired by Gerrards Montezuma 6T. Reserve Grand Champion Bull was Kirlene Dockage 58X, sired by JLP Patry Haddock 71N, exhibited by Kirlene Cattle Co., Brighton.
Judge, Mathew Glasman selected a Charolais steer sired by, HBSF Specialist 108U as the Supreme Champion Steer at the Roblin, Manitoba 4-H Regional Livestock Show. The 1423 lb. steer, exhibited by Tomina Jackson, High Bluff Stock Farm, Inglis was purchased by Maple Farm Equipment, Russell for $2.85/lb. Tomina’s steer went on to be the Champion steer in the open 4-H show in Dauphin, MB.
