Springside Farms Wins Canadian Bull Congress

The Grand Champion Pen of 3 Bulls at the Canadian Bull Congress January 22nd in Camrose, AB were two sons of Turnbulls Duty-Free 358D and a son of SOS Apex PLD 139F, exhibited by Springside Farms, Airdrie. There were 8 pens shown. SOS Timber Pld 88J, a January 21st son of SOS Apex Pld 139F was selected Grand Champion Ranchers Choice Bull, exhibited by Springside Farms. The 37 entry show was judged by Stephen Cholak, Lamont, Amy Wenstob, Strome and Garner Deobald, Hodgeville, SK.

Ontario Charolais Breeder Passes

Garry William Kelly of Marmora, ON passed away January 15th at the age of 79. A Charolais enthusiast for over 25 years he liked his Full French cattle with many bought from Patton Charolais. He is survived by his wife Marjorie, children Kim Millard (Tim) and Jeff Kelly (Rebecca) along with five grandchildren.
A reception will be held on Friday, January 21st from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, January 22nd from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the McConnell Funeral Home, 9 Bursthall St, Marmora. Due to Covid restrictions, a funeral and celebration of Garry’s life will take place at a later date.

Charolais Charbray International Virtual Show Swept by Canada

To build inter-country business during a pandemic, Charolais Charbray International held a Virtual Show. It consisted of three divisions: French, Purebred and Charbray and saw participation from France, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Estonia, and Columbia.

Each division of the show was judged by three renowned judges. The total of nine judges came from eight countries. There was also a People’s Choice category that lasted 10 days. The general population participated by voting in the poll through Facebook or www.CharolaisInternational.com.
