Hunter Eleclted President of the MCA

Michael Hunter, Roblin, was elected president of the Manitoba Charolais Association at their Annual General Meeting held July 21th at Brookdale. Matthew Ramsey, Hamiota, was elected 1st-Vice President while Erin Jackson, Inglis, fills the 2nd Vice-President position. Rae Trimble-Olson, Portage la Prairie, remains as the Secretary-Treasurer. Manitoba Charolais Ambassador of the year went to JMB Charolais who hosted the event. Complete details will be in the October issue of the Charolais Banner.

Reserve Champion Female was RMM Jessicaha Glam 79F, sired by SOS Chuckwagon 54C, and her bull calf at side, RMM Show Stopper 1J, sired by HTA Slap Shot 855F, shown by Danna Bouchard , Compeer.

Grand Champion Purebred Bull Calf was RMM Show Stopper 1J, sired by HTA Slap Shot 855F, shown by Danna Bouchard.

Reserve Grand Champion Purebred Bull Calf was SOS Granite Pld 59J, sired by SOS Granite Pld 8G, Shown by Tyson Black. Forester Falls, ON.

Grand Champion Commercial Female was C&T Jigger 10F and her heifer calf at side, shown by Kaycee Buchanan, Caronport, SK.

Reserve Champion Commercial Female was Red Arrow Pretty Penny 55H shown by Joss Pitman, Kyle, SK.

Grand Champion Market Steer was Smoke Show shown by Joss Pitman.

Reserve Grand Champion Market Steer was Harrison shown by Jorja Beck, Milestone, SK.

Senior Grand Aggregate winners were Bret Marshall, Innisfail & Reegan McLeod, Claresholm.

Intermediate Grand Aggregate winners were Jorja Beck & Seth Kemp, Red Deer County.

Junior Grand Aggregate winners were Braden Scott, Olds & Cade Wright, Pangman, SK.

Charolais Pioneer passes

John Hoff of Medicine Hat, AB passed away July 6th at the age of 96. The Bar Punch herd was started 52 years ago and John had a real passion for the breed and Full French in particular.  A Celebration of Johnny’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Saturday, July 24th at 2:00 p.m.

Alameda Regional Champion Steer

Kamryn Gilliland won Grand Champion Steer at at the Alameda Regional 4-H show and sale, June 12. Her 1,325lb steer was selected by judge Brennon Archdekin, there was 74 steers in the show. Kamryn’s steer was sold privately to Larry and Lori Day.

Reserve Overall Female Weyburn 4H

Callie Buckler, Pangman-Ogema 4-H Beef Club, had Reserve Overall Grand Champion Female at the Weyburn and District 4-H Regional 4-H Beef Show, July 5. The show was judged by Lance Leachman.

Emma Lees, of the Arcola-Kisbey 4-H Beef Club, had top overall Charolais influenced steer. Her 1,244 lb steer was presold to Percyview Stock Farm, Kisbey.

Charolais Win Melfort Regional 4H

Teslyn Kajner, from the Meskanaw-Ethelton 4H Beef Club, won Grand Champion Steer at the Melfort Regional Beef 4H Show. The July 5th show of 70 steers was judged by Claude Wasden. Teslyn’s home raised steer weighed 1,288 lb and sold for $4.25/lb to Gateway Vet Clinic, Melfort.

Anna Wielgosz, also of the Meskanaw-Ethelton 4H Beef Club, won Supreme Grand Champion Female with her three year old cow/calf pair.

Charolais Steer’s Sweep Saskatoon

Leah Libke from the Monarch 4H club exhibited the Grand Champion steer at the Prairieland Junior Ag Showcase on July 5, 2021. Her 1,419lb steer sold to Double K Excavation, Dundurn/Tuxford for $5.50/lb. This 38 head show was judged by Mike Fleury.

Allyson Tetzlaff from Viscount 4H Beef club exhibited the 1,268lb Reserve Grand Champion Steer.

Charolais Influence Mature Cow/Calf Winner

Owen Beaulac of the Wild Rose 4-H Beef Club was able to show his Charolais influence 4-year-old cow at the Prince Abert Regional 4-H Show. She went on to be Champion Mature Female.
