Former Charolais Fieldman/Manager passes

Gerry Bowes, Indian Head, SK passed away August 23rd after a battle with cancer. Gerry was the Canadian Charolais Association National fieldman and CCA Performance Manager from1976 -1988. The family Charolais operation B4 Charolais was active for many years and Gerry was presented the SCA Honor Scroll in 2012 and the CCA Honor Roll in 2013.  Celebration of life will be October 2nd, 1:30 pm, Elks Hall, 401 Dewdney St., Indian Head. SERVICE POSTPONED UNTIL A LATER DATE DUE TO COVID RULES

Former Ontario Breeder passes

Lawrence (Larry) Joseph Leahy, 75, of Douro, ON passed away suddenly the evening of August 12, 2021 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Larry purchased his first Charolais bull in 1970 and was active in the Charolais business as Charleahy Charolais and partner with Don Burgomaster in Triangle Sales Management for a number of years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Douro on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM.

Former Charolais Couple Pass Away

Lloyd (LR) & Josesphine (Jo) Coates of the former Shaw Nee Charolais, Altario, Alberta passed away February 21st and 22nd. Starting in Charolais in 1967 they were active for over 25 years. A funeral service for them was held August 7th at Loverna, SK.

Charcross Reserve Grand at Rivers 4-H

Chase Airey, Rivers, MB had Reserve Grand Champion Steer at the Rivers & District 4-H Beef Show, July 6th, judged by Levi Rimke. His steer Fridge (he’s packed full of delicious meat!) weighed 1,470 lb and sold ofr $2.45 to Redfern Farm Services, Rivers.

Charcross Reserve Grand at Neepawa Regional 4-H

Madisyn Robertson, Neepawa & Area 4-H Beef Club, had the Reserve Grand Champion Steer at the 2021 Neepawa & Area Virtual Interclub Show. This 34 steer show was judged by Chad Haaland, Hanley, SK. The Charolais X homegrown steer weighed 1,630 lbs. and sold for $3.57/lb. to Mazergroup, Neepawa.
