The executive of the Canadian Charolais Association were all re-elected at their Annual General Meeting held June 27th in Renfrew, ON. Brent Saunders, Markdale is president , John Wilgenbusch, Halbrite, SK is 1st Vice-President, Brian Coughlin, Cobden is 2nd Vice-President. Elected to the Board of Directors were for Saskatchewan, Darwin Rosso of Moose Jaw; for Manitoba, Andre Steppler, Miami; for Alberta, Travis Foot, Esther and Member at Large, Ricky Milton, Cornwall, Prince Edward Island.

Mel Reekie named General Manager
Mel Reekie was named General Manager of the Canadian Charolais Association at their Annual General Meeting held June 27th in Renfrew, ON. Mel has been with the Association for the past few years serving as office manager.
A purebred Charolais steer shown by Marshall Prokuda, Glenevis, AB won Reserve Grand Champion over 40 steers at the Stony Plain Regional 4-H show held June 3rd. The steer weighed 1,294 lb and sold for $3.20/lb. to Roszko Farm Equipment, Mayerthorpe.
Marshall also showed the Reserve Champion heifer. Sister Kendal Prokuda won the ADG award with her purebred Charol ais steer which weighed 1,369 lb and sold for $3.15/lb. to Centurian Energy Services, Stony Plain.

A 1,415 lb Charolais sired, Angus dam silver Charcross steer topped 29 steers at the Red Deer, AB District 4-H show. Shown by Ward Marshall, Innisfail the steer cut 64%, had an 89 cm2 ribeye, a 3.41 lb ADG and graded AAA.
Charolais Wins Clyde 4-H Carcass
A 3/4 French, tan Charcross steer from Veronqic Lusson of Clyde, AB topped eight other steers and won the Clyde 4-H carcass competition. With a final weight of 1,655 lb the steer had an ADG of 3.67 lb/day, a carcass weight of 1,065 lb, 112 cm2 ribeye and graded AAA.
