Ethen Senetza won the Bellis 4-H Beef Club (Smoky Lake, AB on June 9th) Grand Champion Steer with his home bred Charolais X Shorthorn steer.
Shae Noble of Pierceland, SK won Grand Champion at both the local 4-H club show and the District 36 Regional 4-H show in Meadow Lake judged by Jim Grant with here Charolais influence steer. At the regional on June 6th the steer weighed 1,525 lb and sold for $3.10/lb to Meadow Lake Power and Equipment.
Darwin Rosso, Moose Jaw, SK was elected president of the Canadian Charolais Association Annual General Meeting, June 10th in Saskatoon, SK. Allan Marshall, Innisfail, AB is the new 1st Vice-President, Mike Elder, Coronach, SK is 2nd Vice-President and Brian Coughlin, Cobden, ON moves to Past-President. Willie Caul, Caul Charolais, Devlin, ON passed away on May 21st, 2017. Willie was a great Charolais enthusiast and breeder in the Rainy River Country of Ontario for decades.
Check out all the bull sale results in the May Banner now online. 6% more bulls sold, with the average only down 8%. Considering the feeder market last fall, this is pretty amazing. This was the third highest average ever and the second highest gross attained. In total 3,230 bulls sold in 90 sales for an average of $6,103 to gross $19,713,525.
