Charcross Wins Bellis Club

Ethen Senetza won the Bellis 4-H Beef Club (Smoky Lake, AB on June 9th) Grand Champion Steer with his home bred Charolais X Shorthorn steer.

Charcross Winner

Haylee Wagstaff of Sedalia, AB won her class with her Charcross steer at the District 4-H show in Youngstown. The steer weighed 1,662 lb and sold for $2.20/lb to Hanna Motor Products.

Charcross Steer Wins Pierceland 4-H

Shae Noble of Pierceland, SK won Grand Champion at both the local 4-H club show and the District 36 Regional 4-H show in Meadow Lake judged by Jim Grant with here Charolais influence steer. At the regional on June 6th the steer weighed 1,525 lb and sold for $3.10/lb to Meadow Lake Power and Equipment.

Charolais Heifer Res. Grand at Prince Albert Regional 4-H

Rylan MacGillivray of Kinistino had Res. Grand Champion Female at the Prince Albert (SK) Regional 4-H Show on June 11th with Cays Rosey 13D by PCC Rome 437B. There were 52 females in the show and the judge was Rob Voice.

Charcross Steer Res. at Stettler Regional

Addison Charbonneau from the Byemoor, AB 4-H Beef Club won Grand Champion of the Byemoor Club and Res. Grand Champion at the Stettler Regional Show with her steer Traveller. The show on May 23rd was judged by Bill Dietrich. The steer weighing 1,262 lb sold for $3.15/lb to Springside Farms, Airdrie.

Bob & Monette Palmer, Palmer Charolais, Bladworth, SK and Doug Howe, White Cap Charolais, Moose Jaw, SK were added to the Canadian Charolais Association Honour Roll in recognition of their contribution to the Charolais Industry in Canada.

Rosso Named CCA President

Darwin Rosso, Moose Jaw, SK was elected president of the Canadian Charolais Association Annual General Meeting, June 10th in Saskatoon, SK. Allan Marshall, Innisfail, AB is the new 1st Vice-President, Mike Elder, Coronach, SK is 2nd Vice-President and Brian Coughlin, Cobden, ON moves to Past-President. Look for all the AGM results in the August issue of the Charolais Banner.

Willie Caul, Caul Charolais, Devlin, ON passed away on May 21st, 2017. Willie was a great Charolais enthusiast and breeder in the Rainy River Country of Ontario for decades.

Bull Sales in 2017

Check out all the bull sale results in the May Banner now online. 6% more bulls sold, with the average only down 8%. Considering the feeder market last fall, this is pretty amazing. This was the third highest average ever and the second highest gross attained. In total 3,230 bulls sold in 90 sales for an average of $6,103 to gross $19,713,525.
