EMB Seduction 67C, sired by Echo Springs Webster 8W from EMB Charolais, Hawkestone was named Grand Champion Female of the Renfrew (ON) Fair Charolais BOSS Show, September 11th. Judge Reid Crawford, Glencoe then chose JSR Jasmine 5B, sired by HTA Vegas 134Y and her Sparrows Barlow 254Z heifer calf at side from Cornerview Charolais, Cobden as his Res. Champion Female of this 39 entry show. SOS Chuckwagon 54C, sired by Silverstream Geddes G102 from Springside Farms, Airdrie, AB; McKeary Charolais, Compeer, AB & Big Johnson Charolais, Amisk, AB was slapped Grand Champion Bull while Cornerview Diesel 35D by SVY Monument Pld 159Y was Res. Grand Champion Bull.

Charcross Steers Win Rainy River 4-H

Siblings Hayden and Carenna Haw of Stratton, ON had Grand and Reserve Grand Champion steers, out of 29, at the Rainy River 4-H Regional Show at Emo judged by Amy Bonchuk. Hayden’s Grand Champion weighed 1,500 lb and sold to Cloverleaf Grocery, Emo for $6.05/lb. He graded AAA with a 56% LMY and a 877.5 lb carcass weight. Carenna’s Reserve Grand Champion weighed 1,485 lb and was sold to Norbord Inc., Barwick for $5.90/lb. He graded AAA with a 61% LMY and a 890 lb carcass weight.

Former Cattlemen Passes

Bob Gordon passed away on July 29th at the age of 83. Bob was a life-time farmer, cattle breeder and owner of Kinnaber Cattle Co., Souris, Manitoba and a beef cattle sire-selector for Alta Genetics of Balzac, Alberta. Funeral service will be held at Central United Church 327- 8 th Street Brandon on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a time of lunch and fellowship at the Church. In memory of Bob, donations may be made to the Bob Gordon Memorial Fund with proceeds going to youth and agriculture endeavours, Box 605 Boissevain, Manitoba R0K 0E0.

Charcross Tops 4-H ADG

Hudson Davies, Medicine Hat, AB won the overall highest Rate of Gain over 60 steers at the Borderline 4-H regional show in Medicine Hat with a silver Charcross. The steer weighed in on Nov. 11, 2015 at 645 lb and on June 11, 2016 his steer weighed 1,530 lb for an ADG of 4.14 lb.dayHudson Davies

Charolais Wins 4-H Regional Carcass Award

Taya Lusson of Clyde, AB won 1st in the Regional 4-H carcass competition with a Full French sired Charcross steer.
