The Young Ranchman’s All Breeds Livestock show was held September 25, 26 & 27 in Swift Current, SK. It was attended by youth from Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba. There was 150 participants, exhibiting 170 head of cattle.

Medonte Can’t Touch 16A by TR Mr Fire Water 5792 R ET and her D R Revelation 467 calf at side exhibited by Medonte Charolais, Hillsdale & EMB Charolais, Hawkestone was named Grand Champion Female at the Lindsay (ON) Fair Charolais (BOSS) Show. Reserve Grand Champion Female of this 54 entry show on Sept. 18th was Bridor Bubba 22B, sired by TR PZC Mr Turton 0794 ET and exhibited by Bridor Farms, Mount Forest. Judge Jim Murray slapped Rollin Acres Zip 12B, sired by SCF You Betcha 94Y from Rollin Acres Charolais, Shelburne and Gold-Bar Livestock, Victoria Harbour Grand Champion Bull. Echo Springs Jagermeister 54C, sired by Jezabel, from Echo Springs Charolais, Hawkestone was the Reserve Grand Champion Bull.

Sharodon 33C Bewitched 7B, sired by D R Revelation 467 from Sharodon Farms, Omemee was named Grand Champion Female of the Renfrew (ON) Fair Charolais BOSS Show, September 13th. Judge Jay Bradley, Casselman chose Bridor Belinda 9B by Sunrise Sunburst 21Y and exhibited by Fourthlane Farms, Consecon as his Res. Champion Female of this 43 entry show. Blackbern Casanova 9C, sired by CML Encore 4Y from Blackbern Farms, Foresters Falls was slapped Grand Champion Bull while McTavish Hallelujah 79B by Pleasant Dawn Magnum 49Y and exhibited by Cornerview Charolais, Cobden & Kirlene Cattle Co., Brighton was Res. Grand Champion Bull.

Cedardale Miss 55B by WDZ Firemaker 6062 P ET was Grand Champion Charolais & Supreme Champion Female over all breeds at the New Brunswick Beef Expo, Sept. 20th in Sussex, NB. Owned by Old Mill Charolais, Great Village, NS this 150 head show was judged by Ross Tracy.

Rollin Acres Zip 12B by SCF You Betcha 94Y was Grand Champion Charolais Bull and Supreme Champion Overall Breeds at the Barrie (ON) Fair, August 30th. Owned by Rollin Acres Charolais, Shelburne and Gold-Bar Livestock, Victoria Harbour this qualifies him for the Agribition Supreme Show.

GGD Natrelle 329N by LHD Cigar E46 and  Dubuc Chaya 569C her Silverstream Geddes heifer calf won Supreme Champion female over all breeds at the Expo de Saint-Hyacinthe, QC. Shown by Dubuc Charolais Senc,Ste-Eulalie she was Grand Champion of the Charolais show earlier in the day on July 24th.

Brooke Preston, Ste. Rose won Reserve at the Portage la Prairie, MB Jackpot show July 5th with Pokey her Charcross steer.

The high seller Lot 8 at $35,000 and the 3rd high seller Lot 2 at $28,000 were both sired by CSS Sir Gridmaker 2W. The 2nd high seller Lot 3 at $31,000 was sired by Silverstream Evolution E168.

Charcross steers from Taya and Veronique Lusson of Clyde, AB won 2nd and 3rd in the 4-H carcass competition this summer. Attached are the results with big points for ADG, Dressing %, Lean Yield, Ribeye but losing because of carcass size. Seems profitable wasn’t in the equation with the bigger carcass definitely making more money.

JMB Charolais, Brookdale, MB won the Cow/calf, the single bred heifer and the bull calf sections of the SK Pen Show held Aug. 8th at McCaw Livestock, Whitewood. Wilgenbusch Charolais won the single heifer calf portion of this show judge by three local cattlemen. There were 13 cow/calf pens judged along with 8 bred heifers, 8 heifer calves and 8 bull calves. A nice crowd was on hand and a calcutta raised $1,375 for the CCYA.
