Lexi Wirsta won Champion Overall Female at the Elk Point 4-H show with her yearling heifer. Zack Germain won Champion Two-Year Old with his Charolais pair. The May 22 show was judged by Toby Noble, Lloydminster.
When your area 4-H clubs have their shows if Charolais or Charcross animals are champions we would like to share that online and in the Fall Connection. We would like a hi-resolution picture along with the members name and town, the date and club or regional name and who the judge was. If it is a steer we would also like the weight and selling price to go with it. See the example below from the Holden show. Good luck to all the 4-H members.
The May Charolais Banner is now online and includes the Bull Sale Summary which shows a great spring with the average of all bulls selling in sales in Canada up $760 over last year and 241 more bulls selling. Check it out.
Taylor Chomik won the Holden (AB) 4-H Beef Club Show Grand Champion Steer with George. At the April 24th show of 16 steers judged by Darryl Snider he weighed 1,498 lb and sold for $3.75/lb rail weight to D2 Electric, Camrose and R&C Yuha Farms, Rosalind.
Emma Chomik won Reserve Grand Champion Steer at the Holden 4-H Beef Club Achievement Day. Her steer Dave weighed in at 1,524 and sold for $3.75/lb rail weight.
At this time of year we get calls for bulls to cover injured or failed semen tested herdsires. Today looking for a breeder quality two-year old or mature bull for the middle of May. Drop me an email with information if you have one. Strong maternal traits desired. Thanks, Helge charolaisbanner@gmail.com
