Canadian Charolais Youth Alumni passes

Jeff Barker passed away Sunday at the age of 53 after a three year battle with ALS. Jeff grew up on the family farm Bar-Lin Acres at Hagersville, ON and will be remembered by many Charolais friends. He is survived by his wife Stacey and children Kelsey & Josh, Kyle, Ciara & Dylan, his parents Charlie & Linda Barker and his siblings Connie & Pete, Brad & Marsha and Danny. The family will honour his life with visitation at the Hyde & Mott Chapel of R.H.B. Anderson Funeral Homes Ltd., 60 Main St. S., Hagersville on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. where Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 11 a.m. Interment Caledonia Cemetery.

Canadian Owned Bulls Win Denver Stock Show

This is a repeat of the November 20th North American International Livestock Show in Louisville, KY where these two bulls were again Grand & Reserve Grand Champions.
TR CAG Carbon Copy 7630 ET, an March 2017 son of RBM TR Rhinestone Z38 and owned by Wilgenbusch Charolais, Halbrite, SK; Doll Charolais, New Salem, ND; Thomas Ranch,  Harrold, SD and Cagney Effling, Highmore, SD was slapped Grand Champion Bull by Shane Bedwell, Holt, MO at the National Western Stock Show, Denver, CO on January 20th.

Reserve Grand Champion Bull of this 62 entry show was BRCHE White Bear 8595 Pld ET, a January 2018 son of M&M Outsider 4003 Pld owned by Prairie Cove Charolais, Bashaw, AB.

Longtime Maritime Breeder passes

Joyce (Murray) MacDonald, of McNairn, NB lost her battle with cancer on January 5, 2020. Joyce and her husband Bill started in Charolais in the 70’s under the farm name of Mur Mac Farm. They were very active in the Charolais business with both serving as president of the Maritime Charolais Association for a number of years. Joyce’s daughter Jennifer was a secretary of the Maritime Charolais for 18 years and a CCA director for nine years. Resting at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A service to celebrate and honour Joyce’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 2:00 pm. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment will be in St. David’s Presbyterian Church Cemetery, McNairn.
