Brynn Steppler, Miami, MB won the Carman Interclub 4-H Champion heifer on July 11th judged by Blair McRae.
Kelly Howe, Moose Jaw, SK was re-elected president of the Saskatchewan Charolais Association at their Annual General Meeting held July 13th at Yellow Creek. Jordan Moore, Redvers was elected 1st Vice-President while Kurtis Phillips, Estevan fills the 2nd Vice-President position. Following the AGM a pen show was held at Creeks Edge Charolais, followed by awards presentations and supper. Complete details will be in the August issue of the Charolais Banner.
Chance Eiserman, Piapot, SK won Grand Champion steer at the Bear Creek 4-H Club Achievement day June 2nd in Piapot with his Charcross steer judged by Craig & Carrie Braun. At the district 10 Regional Fair this steer weighed 1,540 lb and sold for $2.10/lb to Maple Creek Endless Tubing. Paislee Wakelam also showed a Charcross steer in the Bear Creek show and at the regional he weighed 1,400 lb and sold for $2.20/lb to Joe & Evelyn Burgess & Burgess Trucking. These two youngsters also were honoured to receive the Arnal boys memorial bursary, in memory of the three brothers that died in two separate farm accidents in 2008 & 2014. Their business plan is to purchase two purebred Charolais heifers. They are very excited to start shopping for Charolais heifers, with their bursary funds and 4-H money.

Justin Harcourt, Quill Lake, SK had Grand Champion Steer at the Melfort Regional 4-H show July 9th & 10th. There were over 200 head of cattle, 85 being steers, with 110 members from 7 clubs. His clubby sired calf out of a Charolais female weighed $1,512 lb and sold for $4.50/lb to Quill Creek Farms, Quill Lake. Justin’s Charolais heifer HBC 802F by WC Milestone was Grand Champion at their Tisdale Club achievement day and was Champion yearling heifer and Reserve Grand Champion female at the Regional Show. The judge was Craig Wilgenbusch. Jennifer Harcourt’s steer was Grand Champion at the Tisdale Club achievement day judged by Kelly Howe. At the Regional sale her steer weighed 1,516 lb and sold for $3.90/lb to Aaron Behiel Legal Professional Corp., Humbolt.


Kehler Eaton, Northminster 4-H Club won Grand Champion Steer at the Lloydminister (AB) Regional Show and Sale, June 3, 2019. His steer was sired by JWX Downtown 7C and weighed 1,390 lb and sold for $5.05/lb to Roberge Transport, Moose Jaw, SK. There were 92 steers in the show judged by Russ Sibbald.
Megan Perih of the Mountain View 4-H Club won Grand Champion Steer and Champion Yearling Heifer at the Dauphin, MB Regional 4-H Show, June 27th & 28th with Charolais animals. Her steer weighed 1,369 lb and sold for $3.10/lb to Dauphin-Ste. Rose Vet Clinic.
Reserve Champion Steer was exhibited by Ethan Myhre of the Mountain View 4-H club. His Charolais steer weighed
1,474 lb and sold for $2.60/lb to the Jason Beyette Law Corp., Dauphin. The show with 18 steers was judge by Colton McIntosh.

Hannah Elines, Big Valley, AB won Grand Champion Steer at the Big Valley 4-H Club achievement day and then Grand Champion Steer at the Stettler and District Regional 4-H Show and Sale, May 21st, 2019 judged by Rod McCleod. Her steer weighed 1,482 lb and sold for $3.10/lb to Hanna Motor Products, Hanna. Addison Charbonneaus won Grand Champion Steer at the Byemoor 4-H Beef Club achievement day and then Res. Grand Champion at the Stettler District show of 52 steers. The steer weighed 1,430 lb and sold for $3.10/lb to Paintearth Gas Co-op. 

Owen Beaulac of the Wild Rose 4-H Beef Club won the Charolais Two-Year Old Cow/Calf class and went on to win Champion Two-Year Old Cow/Calf at the Prince Albert (SK) Exhibition Regional Show 4-H Show June 9th, 2019. This Charolais cross cow with heifer calf at side is the heifer that won Champion Charolais heifer at last year’s show.
