Rollin’ Acres Charolais, George McCall, Dudgeon-Snobelen Land & Cattle & BZBT Cattle Co. Win Lindsay

MVY Stella 20E, sired by MCF Bohannon 305A with her MVY Caous 64D heifer calf at side, exhibited by Rollin’ Acres Charolais, Mulmur, & BZBT Cattle Co., Melancthon, was selected as Grand Champion Female at Lindsay (ON) Ex BOSS Show September 21st.  The Reserve Champion Female of this 53 entry show judged by Mike Early, Kerwood, was Cedardale Miss 84F, sired by Cedardale Zeal 125Z, exhibited by Cedardale Charolais, Nestleton. The Grand Champion Bull was Rollin’ Acres Emmett 37E, sired by SCF You Betcha 94Y, owned by Rollin’ Acres Charolais, George McCall, Annan, Dudgeon-Snobelen Land & Cattle, Ripley. The Reserve Grand Champion Bull was Rollin’ Acres Front Runner 38F, sired by SCF Gunner 317D, exhibited by Rollin’ Acres Charolais. Complete results will be in the October Charolais Banner.

Oattes/Cornerview Win Renfrew Show

CRG Freakin’ Awesome 57F, sired by CRG Fresh Prince 42B and exhibited  by Oattes Charolais & Stanhow Farms, Cobden was slapped Grand Champion Female at the Renfrew (ON) BOSS Show, September 8th. Reserve Grand Champion Female of this 39 entry show, judged by Mitch Hennekam, Oakwood was CRG Miss Montie 8F, sired by M & M Outsider 4003 Pld. Grand Champion Bull was Cornerview Express 2E, sired by SVY Monument Pld 159Y, owned by Cornerview Charolais, Cobden. Reserve Grand Champion Bull was Mr Southview Zeal 60E, sired by Cedardale Zeal 125Z from Southview Farms, Courtice. Complete results will be in the October Charolais Banner.

Charcross Steers top Wavy Lake and Flagstaff District 4-H

Elizabeth and Austin Harty won Grand & Reserve Grand Champion Steers of the Wavy Lake 4-H Club. Austin’s steer also won top Rate of Gain with 4.11 lbs/day in the Flagstaff District 4-H out of 69 steers. His starting weight was 565 lb and finished at 1357 lb. Elizabeth had Champion Yearling Heifer at the Wavy Lake Achievement day. Elizabeth also won Grand Champion for her Carcass Project in the Flagstaff District 4-H. The steer had results of 4.54 lb/day rate of gain, yield 61.74% and graded AAA.

Charcross Steers Top Three at Rainy River District

Hanna LeDrew, Fort Frances, ON  won Grand Champion steer at the 2019 Rainy River District 4-H show August 17th in Emo, her steer weighted 1,430 and sold for $7.00/lb to Sunset Country Ford, Fort Frances. Reserve Grand Champion went to Cassidy Teeple, Stratton, her steer weighed 1,445 and sold for $5.60/lb to Cloverleaf Grocery, Emo. Third overall went to Brandon Croswell, Emo, his steer weighed 1,310 and sold for $5.10 to North Auto, Alberton, & John Gavel. The show was judged by Kolton McIntosh.

Cavers Elected President of the MCA

Jeff Cavers, La Riviere was elected president of the Manitoba Charolais Association at their Annual General Meeting held August 3 at Birtle.  Hans Myhre, Dauphin was elected 1st-Vice President while Michael Hunter, Roblin fills the 2nd Vice-President position. Rae Trimble-Olson, Portage la Prairie remains as the Secretary-Treasurer. Breeder of the year went to Sunblade Charolais who hosted the event. A pen show was held, followed by awards, presentations and supper. Complete details will be in the October issue of the Charolais Banner.

Charcross Steer wins Miami 4-H

Mason Turner, Miami (MB) had Grand Champion steer of the Miami Beef Club achievement day July 13th. Judged by Blair McRae the steer weighed 1,350 lb and sold for $2.40/lb to Steppler Farms, Miami.

Charcross Steers Win Lethbridge 4-H Regional

Bret Hirsche of the Raymond 4-H Beef Club won Grand Champion steer at the Lethbridge (AB) 4-H Regional show June 7th & 8th in Lethbridge judged by Allen (Buck) Thompson. Bret’s steer weighed 1,490 lb and sold for $4.90/lb to Dr. Aaron Comba. Reserve Grand Champion steer of this 8 club, 80 head steer show was won by Ethan Carroll of the Readymade 4-H Multi Club. This steer weighed 1,416 lb and sold for $4.00/lb to DTR Services,CSN Kustom Auto and Country Commodities.

Charolais Supreme at Neepawa 4-H
