Frost Re-Elected President of Quebec Charolais Association

Charolais Win Rivers & District 4-H

Cays Tanya 21L by SVY Trust 6H exhibited  by Chase Airey, Rivers won Champion Yearling Heifer and Overall Champion Female at the Rivers & District 4-H Beef Club Achievement Show July 4th. Shawn Birmingham was the judge. She was also Overall Champion Charolais Female at the Harding Fair (150 head show), July 19th judged by Laura Horner and Jake Rawluk

Blake Airey, Rivers and her steer “Whiskey” was Reserve Champion Steer of the Rivers & District 4-H Beef Club Achievement Day on July 4th judged by Shawn Birmingham. The steer weighed 1,385 lb and sold for $5.30/lb to Renard’s Meat Service, Virden, MB for $5.30/lbs

CCYA Aggregate Winners

Payton Caldwell, Weyburn won the Senior Grand Aggregate at the CCYA Conference and Show, July 24th to 27th in Swift Current, SK. Reserve Senior winner was Justin Harcourt, Quill Lake.

Taylor Reid, Hafford won Intermediate Grand Aggregate with Indy Fowler, Bashaw, AB, Reserve Grand Aggregate winner

Brynn Steppler, Miami, MB was Junior Grand Aggregate with Jack Wright, Pangman, Reserve Grand Aggregate.

Fowler/Elder Win CCYA Show

Indy Fowler, Bashaw, AB had Grand Champion Female at the 2024 Canadian Charolais Youth Association Conference and Show, July 27th in Swift Current, SK with Miss Prairie Cove 204K by CCC WC Redemption 7143 PLD ET and her WCR Bold Move 168 P heifer calf at side.

Judges Garth & Kade Rancier, Killiam, AB then selected Elder’s Design 3157L by CML Raindance 996G exhibited by Cassidi Elder, Coronach as Reserve Grand Champion Female of this 83 entry show.

Former Charolais Banner Publisher Passes

Mark Kihn who worked for the Charolais Banner from the early ’80s to early 90’s passed away July 21st at the age of 64 after a battle with cancer. Mark was co-owner and publisher from 1985 to 1991. Funeral service will be Monday, July 29th, at 2:00 p.m., at the Foothills Lutheran Church, 3104-34 Avenue NW, Calgary, AB. Viewing will begin at 1:00 pm. Charolais Heifer Reserve Yearling at Neepawa 4-H Interclub

Madisyn Robertson, Neepawa, MB exhibited the Supreme Champion Female at the Neepawa 4-H Beef Club Show on July 2nd,  with JMB Lilac 303L by RPJ Diesel 802F. Cameron & Kaitlyn Nykoliation, Douglas judged the show. Lilac was also selected as the Reserve Champion Yearling Heifer at the Neepawa 4-H Interclub Show held on July 3rd by judge Amy Bonchuk, Rossburn.

Charolais Females Champion at Moose Range 4-H

BDT Jinx 5J by JWX Goodwill 1809G with her heifer calf sired by CML Anthem 20H was Grand Champion Female at the Moose Range 4-H Achievement Day, June 22nd judged by Darrell & Jenna Timm, Kinistino, SK. Shown by Mackenzie Temple, Carrot River the heifer calf was also Champion Heifer calf.
DBLG Lana 2326L by CML Bar Code 37J shown by Mackenzie Temple was Reserve Grand Champion Female at the Moose Range 4-H Achievement Day.

SKW Lily 160J by Winn Mans 78A with her bull calf at side was the Grand Champion Three-Year Old Female and Supreme Champion Female at the Melfort, SK 4-H Regional Show July 7th & 8th. Shown by Anna Wielgosz, Yellow Creek, the show was judged by Katie Songer, Sylvan Lake, AB.
