Hunter Acres Florence 2F, sired by Merit Roundup 9508W, exhibited by Hunter Acres Charolais of Hunter River, was slapped Grand Champion Female at the Classic Heritage Beef Show, a BOSS show, in Windsor, Nova Scotia on September 20th. Reserve Grand Champion Female of this 28 entry show, judged by Tyson Hertz, Fir Mountain, SK was Hunter Acres Geraldine 2G, sired by WR Wrangler W601. Grand Champion Bull was PCHF Bigg Yipper 4F, sired by Winn Mans Big Rig 639Y, owned by Kingsmeadow Land & Cattle, Windsor. OBR Outback Dakota 2D, sired by TR PZC Mr Turton 0794 ET, exhibited by Outback Ranch Land & Cattle, Simonds, NB was selected Grand Champion Charolais and Supreme Champion Bull of all breeds at New Brunswick Beef Expo, September 20th in Sussex.  The Grand Champion Charolais Female, of this 15 entry show, selected by judge Andre Steppler, Miami, MB, was OBR Outback Princess 4B, sired by WR Wrangler W601 with her twin OBR Outback Dakota 2D heifer calves at side, exhibited by Outback Ranch Land & Cattle.

MVY Stella 20E, sired by MCF Bohannon 305A with her MVY Caous 64D heifer calf at side, exhibited by Rollin’ Acres Charolais, Mulmur, & BZBT Cattle Co., Melancthon, was selected as Grand Champion Female at Lindsay (ON) Ex BOSS Show September 21st.  The Reserve Champion Female of this 53 entry show judged by Mike Early, Kerwood, was Cedardale Miss 84F, sired by Cedardale Zeal 125Z, exhibited by Cedardale Charolais, Nestleton. The Grand Champion Bull was Rollin’ Acres Emmett 37E, sired by SCF You Betcha 94Y, owned by Rollin’ Acres Charolais, George McCall, Annan, Dudgeon-Snobelen Land & Cattle, Ripley. Olds (AB) Fall Classic is Sunday, Oct. 6th and Brandon (MB) Ag-Ex Show is Thursday, Oct. 24th at 2:00 p.m.

CRG Freakin’ Awesome 57F, sired by CRG Fresh Prince 42B and exhibited  by Oattes Charolais & Stanhow Farms, Cobden was slapped Grand Champion Female at the Renfrew (ON) BOSS Show, September 8th. Reserve Grand Champion Female of this 39 entry show, judged by Mitch Hennekam, Oakwood was CRG Miss Montie 8F, sired by M & M Outsider 4003 Pld. Grand Champion Bull was Cornerview Express 2E, sired by SVY Monument Pld 159Y, owned by Cornerview Charolais, Cobden. Reserve Grand Champion Bull was Mr Southview Zeal 60E, sired by Cedardale Zeal 125Z from Southview Farms, Courtice. Complete results will be in the October Charolais Banner.

Elizabeth and Austin Harty won Grand & Reserve Grand Champion Steers of the Wavy Lake 4-H Club. Austin’s steer also won top Rate of Gain with 4.11 lbs/day in the Flagstaff District 4-H out of 69 steers. His starting weight was 565 lb and finished at 1357 lb. Elizabeth had Champion Yearling Heifer at the Wavy Lake Achievement day. Elizabeth also won Grand Champion for her Carcass Project in the Flagstaff District 4-H. The steer had results of 4.54 lb/day rate of gain, yield 61.74% and graded AAA.

Carcass Champion

Hanna LeDrew, Fort Frances, ON  won Grand Champion steer at the 2019 Rainy River District 4-H show August 17th in Emo, her steer weighted 1,430 and sold for $7.00/lb to Sunset Country Ford, Fort Frances. Reserve Grand Champion went to Cassidy Teeple, Stratton, her steer weighed 1,445 and sold for $5.60/lb to Cloverleaf Grocery, Emo. Third overall went to Brandon Croswell, Emo, his steer weighed 1,310 and sold for $5.10 to North Auto, Alberton, & John Gavel. The show was judged by Kolton McIntosh.

Danna Bouchard, Compeer, AB had Grand Champion Heifer at the Kerrobert Regional 4-H Show on June 4th judged by Ted Creech.

Jeff Cavers, La Riviere was elected president of the Manitoba Charolais Association at their Annual General Meeting held August 3 at Birtle.  Hans Myhre, Dauphin was elected 1st-Vice President while Michael Hunter, Roblin fills the 2nd Vice-President position. Rae Trimble-Olson, Portage la Prairie remains as the Secretary-Treasurer. Breeder of the year went to Sunblade Charolais who hosted the event.
