CJL/Valley’s End Win Pen Show

CJL Livestock, Radville exhibited the Champion Pen of Charolais Bulls with two sired by Turnbull’s Knockin Boots 604K and one by Balamore Justice 126J. The Reserve Champion Charolais Pen of Bulls was two sired by LAE Huckleberry 8H and one by Pleasantdawn Mobile 103F, exhibited by Valley’s End Charolais, Central Butte. The Pen Show was held November 30th in Regina in conjunction with the Canadian Western Agribition.

SVY Covergirl 232K, sired by BOY Outlier 812 ET Pld with her CCC WC Redemption 7143 Pld ET heifer calf at side, exhibited by Serhienko Cattle Co., Maymont was selected Grand Champion Female of the Agribition Charolais Show at Regina, SK, November 29th. Judges Brayden & Andie Schmidt, Disdsbury, AB then chose EVF Lily 338L, sired by SVY Trust 6H from Harvie Ranching Co. as the Reserve Grand Champion of this 118 head BOSS Show. Grand Champion Bull was Beck’s Throttle 201K, sired by DC/KCM Marksman E1145 PET, exhibited by Steppler Farms Ltd., Miami, MB. Reserve Grand Champion Bull was CKE Bankdraft 35M, sired by MVY Backdraft 35J from CK Stock Farms, Candiac.

Charolais Pioneers Pass

Roy and Joan Biensch formally of Rainbow Charolais, Marsden, SK both passed this year. Joan passed on Aug 11th, one day shy of their 70th wedding anniversary. Roy passed away November 21st at the age of 93. Roy was a founding member of the Canadian Charolais Association in 1959. He was president of the Saskatchewan Charolais Association from 1966 to 1969 and a director of the Canadian Charolais Association for 14 years from 1962 to 1976. Their dispersal sale was in 1985 in Lloydminster. There will be a celebration of life gathering next spring or summer back in Marsden.
