Charolais Supreme at Owen Sound
Griffin Tupling, Mulmur, ON won Supreme Champion Female over all breeds with Rollin Acres Starstruck 47K sired by Rollin Acres Front Runner 38F at the Owen Sound Regional Show. This 70 head show on September 9th was judged by Jamie and Ellen Blenkiron.

Charcross Win Emo 4-H Show
Sydney Romyn won Grand Champion Steer at the Rainy River District Fall Fair 4-H Show in Emo, ON on August 19th judged by Neil Carson. Her steer weighed 1,400 lb and sold to Cloverleaf Grocery for $7.90/lb and graded AAA Yield Grade 3.
Reserve Grand Champion Market Steer of this 31 head show was won by Georgia Romyn. Her steer weighed 1,482 lb and sold for $6.90 to Kaemingh Fuels Ltd for $6.90/lb and graded AAA Yield Grade 2.
The 31 steer sale average was $5.10/lb.
Charolais Supreme at Barrie Fair
Baker Farms Justified 15J by CCC WC Resource 417 P won Supreme Champion Bull at the Barrie, Ontario Fair August 27th. He is owned by Baker Farms of Madoc.
Silver Steer Wins Carman 4-H Show
A silver Charcross steer shown by Brayden Steppler, Miami, MB was Grand Champion of the Carman 4-H Regional show on July 13th. 38 steers were judged by Paul and Madisyn Robertson. The steer sold for $4.97/lb to Bullseye Feeds.
Paisley Baron, Carberry, MB won the Carberry/Sidney Regional 4-H show on July 8th with her purebred Charolais steer Rocket. Besides the champion banner she received the McBean Trophy which has been in circulation since 1947. Kolton McIntosh from Eriksdale sorted the 28 steers. Rocket weighed 1,400 lb and sold for $4.70/lb to Mid-Plains Implements of Carberry.
Alberta Charolais Breeder Passes
Stan Grad of Soderglen Ranches, Airdrie, AB passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the age of 78 years. Starting into Charolais the fall of 1983 they were very competitive on the road with their most notable herdbull Roxy’s Jack Dempsey 63R. After a dispersal sale in 1990 they built back a multi-purebred operation including Charolais running up to 2,600 cows on 22,000 acres at Airdrie, Fort MacLeod and Cardston ranches and having a very successful bull sale every spring.
Funeral Services will be held at Soderglen Ranches, 280023 RR 14, Rockyview County, AB on Saturday August 19, 2023 at 4:00 p.m.

Scarlett Fowler, Bashaw, AB won Reserve Grand Champion Female with MISS PRAIRIE COVE 202K by HVA Fireball 662F. Judges for the show were Dennis & Katie Serhienko, Maymont, SK.
