Dorothy Seater Passes

Dorothy Phyllis Seater (née Skinner), born in Brandon, Manitoba, in 1939, passed away suddenly in Osoyoos, BC, on June 14, 2025, at the age of 86. A spirited and adventurous woman, Dorothy lived and worked across Canada and Bermuda before settling in Rivers, MB, where she and her husband Edmund ran the Ed-C-Dor Charolais Farms. She was known for her boundless energy, love of entertaining, and entrepreneurial flair—from hosting horse events to traveling southern Manitoba with her Balancemobile. Dorothy leaves behind a large and loving family, countless friends, and a legacy of warmth, faith, and zest for life.

Former Saskatchewan Breeder Passes

Edmund “Ed” William Williams, born July 24, 1952, in Outlook, SK, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, surrounded by family. A lifelong farmer near Macrorie, Ed was known for his dedication to agriculture, his involvement with the Saskatchewan Charolais Association and Canadian Charolais Youth Association, and his active role in local governance and community organizations. He cherished time with his wife Alorie, son Aaron, stepsons Len and Corey, and his many grandchildren, instilling in them his love of farming and community. Ed will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and passion for both farming and adventure, including his winter jeep excursions in Arizona.

Burgomaster Wins

Tyler Burgomaster, Omemee, ON exhibited the Grand Champion Beef Heifer at the Kawartha Lakes Haliburton 4H Fair with Sunrise Melody 9M a SVY Mayfield 30H daughter. Tyler also won Reserve Grand Champion Beef Showman. The 30 head show was judged by Laura Naismirh, Arnprior, ON.

Marilyn Nykoliation Passes

Marilyn Nykoliation passed away July 28, 2025 at the age of 83 years in Elkhorn, MB. A Graveside Funeral Service was held Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Breadlabane Cemetery, Lenore, Manitoba. Marilyn and her husband Leonard operated under Beaver Creek Charolais until the dispersal in December of 2013.

Indy Fowler, Bashaw had Grand Champion Female at the 2025 Canadian Charolais Youth Association Conference and Show, July 19th in Stettler, AB with Miss Prairie Cove 417M by WCR Bold Move168 P.

Judge Casey Bishop, Killam then selected Legacys Lena 13L by Legacys Game Day 45G and her JWX Kingston 7159K heifer calf at side, exhibited by Haley Walgenbach, Botha as the Reserve Grand Champion Female.

CCYA Aggregate Winners

Morgan Debenham, Kennedy, SK won the Senior Grand Aggregate at the CCYA Conference and Show, July 16th-19th in Stettler, AB. Reserve Senior winner was Kehler Eaton, Lloydminster.

Scarlet Fowler, Bashaw won the Reserve Intermediate Grand Aggregate with Haley Debenham, Kennedy, Grand Aggregate winner.

Briar Blanchette, Edam, SK was Junior Grand Aggregate Champion with Hannah Schwengler, Beiseker winning Reserve Grand.

Char Cross Win

Macy Lyster, Sibbald won Club Grand Champion Steer at the June 7th, 2025 Hanna District 4-H Show & Sale with her Charolais sired steer Dallas. Dallas weighed 1,589 lb with an ADG of 4.11/day and sold for $4.80/lb to Desertland Cattle Co., Sedalia. The 66 head steer show was judged by Scott Anderson, Sylvan Lake.
Brianna Lyster, Sibbald won Reserve Grand Champion Club Steer with her 1,629lb steer Blazer at the Hanna & District 4-H Show & Sale. Theo had a ADG of 4.26 lb and sold for $4.75/lb to Battrum Cattle Co., Sibbald. Brianna also won District Reserve Champion Carcass Steer. Her 1,552 lb Carcass project “Blazer” was also the Hanna District Rate of Gain Champion with an ADG of 4.43.
The Hanna & District Grand Champion Carcass Steer was won by Brandt Lyster, Sibbald. Brandt’s steer Larry weighed 1,490 lb, had an ADG of 4.01 lb/day and a 138/162 possible Carcass score with a AAA grade.

Charolais Win Holden 4-H

Tuf Bratrud, Bawlf won Grand Champion Heifer at the May 30th, 2025 Holden 4-H Achievement Day with OS Miss Margo 3M. The show was judged by Evan Patriquin, Westlock.
Baylee Chomik’s charcross steer “Helge” was selected as Grand Champion Steer at the Holden 4-H Club Show and Sale. Baylee’s steer weighed 1500 lb and sold for $5.75/lb to Lefsrud Seeds, Viking and Randy Spencer, Edmonton.
Jayden Chomik’s char x steer “Stephen” won the Highest Daily Gain with 4.26 lb/day. Stephen weighed 1686 lb and sold for $6.50/lb to Ray Arc Welding & D2 Electric, Camrose.
