Jake King, Dapp of the Pembina West 4-H Club won Grand Champion Steer with his 1670 lb Charolais sired steer Tank at the Westlock 4-H District Show and Sale. Jake was also crowned the District Champion Jr. Showman. The 56 head steer show was judged by Danny Skeels, Rimbey.

Brynn Murray, Marwaynne won Reserve Champion Steer at the May 26, 2025 St. Walburg Regional Show. Brynn’s Charolais sired steer weighed 1705 lb. Olivia Woytiuk, Shell Lake, SK judged the 50 head steer show.

The Murray sisters Brynn, Kacie & Kailee also won the Homegrown Pen of 3 Steer class with their Charolais sired steers.

KAYR Annabelle 483M a Sparrows Pascal 239K daughter, owned by KFC Farms Ltd, Didsbury and exhibited by Riley Breuer was Reserve Champion Charolais Heifer at the April 4th CRY Junior show. The show was judged by Jarret Jackson. KAYR Annabelle was also selected as the Reserve Champion Jr. Heifer at the April 19th Olds Spring Classic Jr. Show by Judges Garren Skeels and Trinity Martin. She then went on to win Grand Champion Heifer at the April 20th Olds Spring Classic Open Show. With Jay Sibbald doing the judging.

Friends of the Canadian Charolais Association had their Annual General Meeting June 13th in Quebec City, QC. Kelly Howe, Moose Jaw, SK was re-elected Chairman; Mark Frost, Kingsey Falls, QC was elected Vice-Chairman; Jeralyn Rasmussen, Innisfail, AB Secretary-Treasurer and Keith Black, Foresters Falls, ON, President. The rest of the board are Mike Elder, Coronach, SK; Dwein Trask, Saskatoon, SK and Donna Courchesne, Shawville, QC. Following the CCA Presidents Dinner the 4th Annual FCCF Fundraising Auction was a great success with 27 lots raising over $36,000. See the August Charolais Banner for more information.

Ryan Nesbitt, Nestleton, ON was elected President of the Canadian Charolais Association at their Annual General Meeting held June 13th, 2025 in Quebec City, QC. Josh Taylor, Dunsford, ON was elected as 1st Vice-President; Dennis Serhienko, Maymont, SK 2nd Vice-President and Shawn Airey, Rivers, MB continues as Past-President. Rounding out the board of directors are Rod McLeod, Rockyview County, AB; Josh Redden, Windsor, NS; Darwin Rosso, Moose Jaw, SK; Armand Roy, St-Bernard Lacolle, QC; Michael Hunter, Roblin, MB; Travis Foot, Esther, AB and Kyle O’Neill, Red Deer County, AB with Craig Scott being the General Manager. Indy Fowler, Bashaw, AB won Grand Champion Open Female at the May 24th Josephburg (AB) Ag Society Classic with Miss Prairie Cove 417M, a WCR Bold Move 168 P daughter. The show was judged by Reese & Jill Wildman.

Jerrold Delahey, Chardel Charolais, Moose Jaw, SK passed away May 19th, 2025 at the age of 89. Jerrold and his wife Barb started their purebred herd known as Chardel Charolais. They spent 30 years showing cattle across western Canada. During those years Jerrold served as President of the Canadian Charolais Association. Funeral arrangements to be announced at a later date.
