Charolais Females Win at Prince Albert 4-H

Rylan MacGillivray, Weldon, SK exhibited the Reserve Champion Heifer, RAMs Aurora 37L (CAYS Revival 44J) at the Prince Albert Regional Show and Sale on Sunday, June 9th. The judge was Garrett Leibreich, Radville.
Tyson MacGillivray, Weldon exhibited the Three-Year Old Champion Cow/Calf, CAYS Kendall 18J (CAYS Full House 22E) with bull calf by CAYS Revival 44J, at the Prince Albert Regional Show and Sale.

Charolais Females Reserve at Kerrobert 4-H Regional

Christopher Bomok, Battleford, SK of the United 4-H Beef Club had Reserve Grand Champion Heifer and Two-Year Old Female at both his acheivement day June 2nd and at the Kerrobert & District 4-H Regional Show on June 4th & 5th judged by Brynne Yoder. The two-year old is MCA Bridget 13K by SOS Hickory Pld 106H and her MCA Magnum 127M bull calf at side. The yearling heifer is MCA Davis 54L also by SOS Hickory Pld 106H.

Charcross Steer Wins Westlock District 4-H

A Full French sired Charcross steer shown by Connor King, Dapp AB was selected as Grand Champion Steer at the Westlock and District 4-H show. The 48 head steer show was judged by Leah Jones. Connor’s steer Dwayne weighed 1574 lb and sold for $5.60/lb to Carl’s Tirecraft, Westlock.

Charolais Sired Steer Wins Nebraska 4-H

Denim Parsons, Tees, AB of the Nebraska 4-H club won Grand Champion Steer at the May 27th Lacombe & District show and sale. Denim’s 1365 lb steer was purchased by Thermopro Insulation for $3.60/lb. The show was judged by Scott Anderson, Sylvan Lake.

Charolais Steer Wins Carberry/Sidney Interclub 4-H Show

Paisley Baron, Carberry, MB won the Carberry/Sidney Interclub Grand Champion Steer for the second year in a row. There were 28 steers judged by Ryan Brown, Medora on July 6th. Cookie weighed 1,322 lb and sold for $4.74/lb to Hood Farms Ltd., Carberry.

Charolais Females Win Moose Jaw Inter Regional 4-H

Matthew Howe, Moose Jaw, SK won Champion Heifer and Overall Champion Female with HKS Ms Lois 43L (Silverstream Geddes G102) at the Moose Jaw Inter Regional 4-H Show June 23rd. Judge was Garrett Liebreich, Radville.

Elise Howe, Moose Jaw won Champion Two-Year Old Female with HKS Billie Jean 10K (Pleasantdawn Connection 195G) and her HKS Gusto 131G heifer calf at side.

Charcross Steer Wins Lethbridge District 4-H

A Charcross steer shown by Logan Scheirlinck was Champion steer at his Del Bonita, AB 4-H club show and then went on to be Supreme Champion Steer at the Lethbridge District 4-H show. The steer weighed 1,583 lb and sold for $5.55/lb to Sunny South Veterinary Services, Lethbridge. This June 1st show was judged by Kolby Heaven.

Howe Re-elected Chairman of the FCCF Board

The executive and board remained the same at the Friends of the Canadian Charolais Foundation Annual General Meeting held June 7th in Moose Jaw, SK. Kelly Howe, Moose Jaw was re-elected Chairman; Keith Black, Foresters Falls, ON was re-elected Vice-Chairman; Jeralyn Rasmussen, Innisfail, AB, Secretary-Treasurer and Helge By, Regina, President. The rest of the board are Dennis Serhienko, Maymont; Dwein Trask, Saskatoon; Mike Elder, Coronach & Mark Frost, Kingsey Falls, QC.
Following the CCA Presidents Dinner the 3rd Annual FCCF Fundraising Auction was again a great success with 35 lots raising over $80,000 to fund the Foundations many inititives. See the August Charolais Banner for more information.

Airey Re-elected President of the CCA Board

Shawn Airey, Rivers, MB was re-elected President of the Canadian Charolais Association at their 65th Annual General Meeting held June 11th, 2023 in Innisfail, AB. Ryan Nesbitt, Nestleton, ON stays on as 1st Vice-President; Josh Taylor, Dunsford, ON as 2nd Vice-President and Kasey Phillips, Waskatenau, AB continues as Past-President. Rounding out the board of directors are Rod McLeod, Rockyview County; Josh Redden, Windsor, NS; Darwin Rosso, Moose Jaw; Armand Roy, St-Bernard Lacolle, QC; Travis Foot, Esther, AB; Dennis Serhienko, Maymont and Kyle O’Neill, Red Deer County, AB with Craig Scott being the General Manager.
